LIFE AND AD&D: SECURIAN FINANCIAL GROUP

HEALTH SAVINGS ACCOUNTS & FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNTS: HEALTHEQUITY

Employees may choose to participate in a Heath Savings Account (HSA) with HealthEquity if enrolled in the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) and are eligible.

Employees may choose to participate in a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) if they are in the Base or Buy-Up plan.

Dependent Care and Limited Purpose FSAs (DCFSA, LPFSA) may go with the HDHP and can go with an HSA. Maximums contributed in to these two accounts (set by the IRS) are based on the calendar year but the election amount made by the employee is based on the fiscal year. This is most important for those with an FSA to watch for when you are first electing the account or when hired in earlier part of the year.
